News & Announcements

Submit your handball news items
Consider this your chance to get your handball related event, tourney results, or news items published on the most popular handball web site in the Rocky Mountain Region.  Just send an email with your photos, comments, news, or event details to News@ColoradoHandball.com - we will make room available for all submissions made in good faith - it is entirely free, you don't have to pay a cent.

Also note that if you are a dues paying member in the CHA (which automatically includes *everyone* who played in the 2012 fall traveling league) - you can submit a sky-scraper formatted ad and it will be rotated in to page views on our home page at no additional cost to you.  Several members take advantage of this - you can see their ads along the right side by scrolling down the page.  Sky-scraper format is 120 pixels wide by 600 pixels high - enough to grab serious attention from our site visitors.  And it is a proven fact that handball players prefer to do business with other handball players before any unknown business entity, so it pays to get your business recognized.  Just send your ad content to the same email noted above.  - (published here on Sunday, April 14, 2013)

4 Wall Junior Nationals in Chicago - The Colorado boys done good!

The matches have just concluded, the results are in, and our two Colorado players performed wonderfully!

Alex Ibarra (19 and Under) - Advanced to the quarterfinals in singles.  Finished second in the doubles, losing in a tiebreaker.

Jon Gutierrez (13 and Under) - Finished second in the singles.  Finished second in the doubles, losing in a tiebreaker.

I am so proud of both players.  They played their hearts out and represented Colorado well.  As well as I can recall, Jon's singles finals appearance is the farthest any Colorado player has ever advanced in the USHA Juniors singles division tournaments.

For the year Alex has a 3 Wall Juniors doubles championship and 4 Wall doubles runner-up.  His doubles success is unmatched in Colorado Juniors handball.

On behalf of these lads, thanks to all the contributors to the National Juniors Scholarship fund, and special thanks to all those who have coached.

Congrats to Fort Collins Club as the 2012 Fall League Champions!

The 2012 CHA Fall Traveling League came to a fantastic end, with the final position day held on Dec 15th.  In total, 10 teams played competitive handball on 9 different Wednesday nights between September 26th and December 5th, skipping only Halloween and the day before Thanksgiving.  This year the league expanded the number of teams to provide an additional team at the CAC Monaco club. Each night there were singles and doubles matches in the Open, A, and 2 Contenders levels for a total of 8 matches for each pair of teams.

Position Day was held on December 15th  at the North Jeffco courts.  Fort Collins was the overall winner of the Fall League having the best record on Position Day. The  results were:  Fort Collins 6-2, Da Independents, 5-3, FAC 3-5 and Monaco 2-6

With 10 teams competing for the coveted Stanley's Cup trophy, only the top 4 teams competed on Position Day for the trophy.  The winner of the league was determined only by the matches won on Position Day - but had there been a tie, the first tie-breaker would have been the heads-up tally during the league.
